Key West Wedding: Katie and Scott at the Ocean Key Resort and Spa

Katie and Scott are a fun and laid-back couple so Key West was the perfect location for their wedding!  Jason was happy to join them for their beautiful day.  The wedding planner was Erica of Simply You Weddings.  Jason enjoyed meeting her and said she was terrific to work with.  Other vendors for the day included Studio Marie-Pierre for hair and makeup, floral arrangements of calla lilies and lily grass by Mama Flowers, and a wedding cake from Amazing Cakes and Creations.  The wedding was held at the Ocean Key Resort and Spa with the reception on the pier so guests could enjoy the beautiful weather.

The bride and groom had a first sight before their ceremony to give them more time for bride and groom and wedding party pictures.  They went to the Southernmost Point Marker and the Mile 0 Post which are iconic Key West pictures.  After the ceremony Katie and Scott took a few sunset pictures before joining their guests to celebrate at the reception!  Ocean Key was the caterer also and made yummy food like thai vegetable spring rolls, coconut battered shrimp, BBQ pulled pork sliders, jerked chicken, and a pasta station.  The cake was of course a Key Lime cake, fitting for a Key West wedding.  It has raspberry filling which is Jason’s favorite!

Congratulations to Katie and Scott on an awesome wedding day!  We hope the fun and joy of the day lasts you a lifetime!  Thank you for having Jason there to capture your memories.

Virginia Wedding at King of Kings Lutheran Church: Judi and David

We were so excited to be part of Judi and David’s wedding!  They are truly wonderful people and deserve so much happiness.  I love this quote from their wedding website:

“Our story is all about families.  The families of our pasts that made us who we are.  The families of the present that have supported us and helped us find each other.  And the combined family we will become in the future.”

It was beautiful to see so many people come together to celebrate with them!  Judi and David made their day all about love and family.  Jason had a blast when he photographed their engagement session at a garden in Virginia.  Their wedding was also in Virginia at King of Kings Lutheran Church.  Judi is the Director of Youth Ministries at the church and during the ceremony she invited all the kids up to the front of the church.  After the ceremony there was a family-friendly reception with a balloon artist and wedding cake.  Jason then took Judi and David for pictures at a friend’s beautiful backyard.  That evening the couple had an adult reception also at King of Kings.  Pizzeria Moto was there with a mobile wood-fired pizza oven.  There was also a poker game with gift card prizes and of course lots of dancing.  Judi and David had a babysitter in another room with games and movies for the kids.

Jason loved seeing so many of the engagement pictures framed and on display!  One of the best moments during the engagement session was when a small bee landed right on the couple’s lips as they kissed.  When they saw the pictures, guests at the wedding couldn’t believe that really happened!  They asked Jason why he would photoshop a bee onto their lips!  It was great to see a small bee figurine worked into the flowers for the wedding day:).

We are so grateful to Judi and David for having us as a part of their wedding.  Everything was amazing!  We pray that their lives together are richly blessed and their love is nourished by God’s love and His presence in their marriage.  Congratulations to Judi and David!!

Vermont Wedding at The Skinner Barn: Colleen and Alexander

Jason was honored and really excited to be part of Colleen and Alex’s wedding at The Skinner Barn in Waitsfield, Vermont.  On his way there, as he drove through covered bridges surrounded by beautiful scenery of tall trees and mountains, he knew it was going to be an amazing day.

The vendors included Michelle of Afterglow Salon for hair and makeup, the  Sidewalk Florist for flowers, Peter Boynton as the officiant, Catering by Dale who was both the wedding coordinator and the caterer, and Vermont Sweet Tooth who made the wedding cake and cupcakes.  But my favorite vendor by far was Alex, the groom.  He made the wedding rings!  Yes, I didn’t say designed, I said made!  He researched how to do it, bought the tools, and made the rings as a surprise for Colleen.  He did a fantastic job!  How romantic, and how special for the couple to have these rings which mean so much and can be passed down to future generations.  One day their grandson might put that same ring on his bride’s finger knowing that the love of his grandparents is part of that ring.  I love it!

Jason said one of his favorite details from the wedding day was the lego cake topper.  I wonder if Colleen and Alex will pass that down to their kids as well, but at a much younger age so they can have fun playing with it!  The wedding favors at the reception were homemade jams and pickled yummies that the couple made themselves.  They were perfect for a farm wedding!  Jason wanted to take some home with us but we didn’t want to pack glass jars in the suitcase so he just took one and ate it before the flight home:).

People always talk about choosing bridesmaid dresses that bridesmaids can wear again.  I would definitely wear the yellow, black, and tan graphic dresses that Colleen’s bridesmaids wore.  Alex looked awesome in his yellow tie and suspenders too.  I love yellow as a wedding color and it worked well to have tall yellow sunflowers to decorate the ceremony with a big grassy field and mountains in the distance as the background.

Colleen and Alex had a relaxed and laid-back summer wedding.  Kids played in the stream and twirled in the grass while inside the barn guests ate, danced, and celebrated.  A big thank you to Colleen and Alex for having us as part of such a terrific wedding!  We are so happy we were able to be part of your day and we wish you lifelong love and happiness!

Maryland Wedding: Stacey and Donald at the Silver Swan Bayside

Jason was excited when Stacey contacted him for her wedding!  He had photographed Stacey’s sister’s wedding and was happy to be able to share in another special day for a wonderful family.  Stacey and Don were married at the Silver Swan Bayside in Maryland.  Jason had a great time on his trip there!  The wedding day started with Ryan from Blend Makeup Artistry there for Stacey’s makeup.  The videographer was Matt of Buerhaus Design and the beautiful flowers were done by Intrigue Design and Decor.  The flowers were in shades of purple and green with purple being the main wedding color.

The couple’s ceremony was held with a view of the Chesapeake Bay as the backdrop.  Stacey and Don had a traditional Jewish ceremony and including all of the traditions that have been used in weddings for hundreds of years made the ceremony even more meaningful.  The reception was held in a tented patio decorated with flowers and lantern centerpieces.  Round paper lanterns hung from the ceiling.  The DJ was Jason from Quality Entertainment and the wedding cake was from Fiona’s Cakes.  The cake had a pattern of tiny crabs on it and the favor was a personalized wooden crab mallet for the guests, perfect for a wedding on the bay in Maryland!

It was wonderful for Jason to see Jodie and Dan again and to meet their little girl!  It was a great wedding and Jason had a terrific time.  Thanks so much to Stacey and Don for having Jason join you to capture the memories of such a special day!  We wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Boston Wedding: Celia and Jake at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum

We first talked to Celia and Jake two years ago when Celia sent us an email asking about having Jason as her photographer.  We knew from the beginning that they would be a fun couple as Celia shared some of their likes and dislikes, including her love of baking and Jake’s love of penguins.  We kept in touch with emails through their planning and we were excited for them as wedding details started to come together and even more excited when they officially decided to have us on their wedding team for what was sure to be a fantastic wedding in the Boston area!  Jason met them for their mini golf engagement session a year ago and their personalities were the same in person as they were through the emails.  They were a blast to hang out with, creative, super nice, and perfect for each other.  Jason could not wait to see them again in Boston for their wedding.

When Jason arrived at his hotel in Boston, Celia and Jake had a welcome package waiting complete with wedding info, a map of Boston, a brochure of their venue, and yummy treats like a lobster lollipop and Cape Cod potato chips.  The wedding weekend started with the couple’s rehearsal.  Paula of Marrero Events was the wedding planner and Jason enjoyed meeting her as everyone gathered at the couple’s beautiful venue, the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, to practice for the big day.  After the rehearsal Celia and Jake hosted a welcome dinner at Jasper White’s Summer Shack Restaurant.  It was a great evening with Celia, Jake, and their close friends and family.

The next morning Jason was at the Westin Waltham Boston to join Celia as she got ready for her wedding day!  Christine and Holly of Wedding Tresses were there doing hair and makeup for the girls.  Everyone then headed over to the venue where Celia and Jake had their first sight.  It was wonderful to see the emotion in that moment.  When they looked at each other, you could see that Celia and Jake are two best friends who are completely in love.  Boston Wedding Films was the videographer for the wedding and they were awesome.  Other vendors for the day included Karla Cassidy Designs for flowers, Different Tastes as the caterer, cupcakes from Jenny’s Wedding Cakes, and the DJ from C-Zone Music.

It was an amazing wedding day.  You could see the thought and hard work that Celia and Jake put into every detail to make sure that their wedding vision came to life and that it reflected them as a couple.  The origami at the ceremony, the reading of Me Too Iguana, a Chinese Tea Ceremony, lion dancers, a lounge area at the reception, a photo booth, and beautiful red details made Celia and Jake’s day unique and a perfect fit for the two of them.  Jason was honored to be there to share in the day and capture the memories.  Thank you so much to the Celia and Jake!  It is you two who are Amaze-Balls!!!  It was a gorgeous wedding for an awesome couple and we are so happy to have been part of it.  Please be sure to stay in touch!
