Christmas Mini Sessions: The 2012 Food Drive Auction Winners

This year’s food drive has ended and was a success!  We announced the winners and results on our blog previously and shared pictures of all the food before it was brought to the food pantry.  We donated 1127 items this year!  That is thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated, especially those who donated enough to be the winners of our mini sessions!  This is an annual event so be sure to start saving your canned goods for next year:).  In the meantime, here are just a few pictures of the mini sessions for the winners.

This family bid enough to win a session for each of their kids!  That is generosity!  They did both a Christmas mini session and a first birthday mini session.

“For I Was Hungry and You Fed Me”: Ending the 2012 Food Drive

Our annual food drive has come to an end for this year and tomorrow morning we will be dropping off all the food at the food pantry.  This year our food drive certainly had its ups and downs but in the end we are staying focused on why we do this year after year.  We are proud of what it teaches our kids, we are happy to share our blessings with the less fortunate, and we are incredibly grateful to and inspired by the auction winners and all of you who donated!  At our final count, we had ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SEVEN items that we will be bringing to the food pantry in the morning!  THANK YOU so much to everyone who contributed to that 1127!

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”  –Anne Frank, Diary of a Young Girl, 1952

As our kids get older, I love seeing how much of their heart they put into this food drive.  They are excited to be involved and they are proud to know that they are making a difference.  I hope the joy they feel from doing good stays with them and motivates them throughout their lives.  Even when it seems so much easier to give up, or to do less, I want my kids (my oldest son in particular) to learn the important lesson that the harder you work and the more of yourself that you give, the more you get back.  But what you get back is a joy that comes from knowing you are doing God’s work, and that is a pure and lasting joy!

We again want to express how grateful we are to all of the auction winners for their generous and caring hearts!  They truly inspire me.  Pictures from their mini sessions will be coming to the blog soon.  In the meantime, here are pictures of all the food we collected!

To get an idea of how much food is in the picture below, the word “For” has 264 cans!

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”  Anne Frank, Diary of a Young Girl, 1952

Each year we have our annual food drive and collect non-perishable food items for our local food pantry.  We ask people to bid with how many food items they can donate and the top bids win a free mini session with disc of images.  This year we announced that our top two bids would also receive a large, gorgeous wooden frame as well!

The bids are in and we want to thank all of you who sent in a bid.  Your generosity is so inspiring and does so much good for the hungry of our community!  We would like to announce the top 6 bids who have won a holiday-themed mini session on November 17th and a disc of the images from that session.  The winners are:

1.  Denise

2.  Lauren

3.  Brandon

4.  Chelsea

5.  Mary

6.  Fran

We are matching the top bid which means that we will be bringing 952 food items to our local food pantry!

We know of a couple other people who have said that they will be dropping off food to donate as well, so though we didn’t quite make our goal this year we are not done collecting food items!  If anyone would like to make a donation, even if it is just cleaning out a couple of the cans from your pantry, we’d love to add more to this number!!  We are confident that when we add in the donations people bring, we will make our goal of beating last year’s number and have more than 1275 food items for the food pantry.

We will be emailing our winners this evening so that they can choose their time slots for the mini sessions on November 17th.

Also, we’d like to congratulate Denise and Lauren who are the winners of the frames!

They both have adorable kids so the frames are going to display their pictures beautifully.

We’ll soon have pictures from the mini sessions as well as a picture of all the food before we bring it to the food pantry.  We’ll be sure to share those updates here on our blog!

THANK YOU AGAIN to all of our winners!  We are so grateful!

2012 Annual Food Drive: Help the Hungry and Win a Free Holiday Mini Session

Four years ago we sat at the dinner table with our kids and talked about what a blessing it was to have food on our table.  Our son asked us how we were able to have food while others had none and we told them that we were blessed with our successful business to support our family.  When our son, who was four at the time, asked why we didn’t use our business to help give other people food too, our annual Jason Angelini Photography food drive began.

Through the three previous food drives we’ve had we’ve been able to donate over 2500 food items to our local food pantry!  Each year so far we’ve collected more than the previous year and we’d like to continue that trend and help to feed as many people as we can this holiday season.  One in six people in America struggles with hunger.  In 2011 Florida had one of the highest rates of food insecurity with over 16% of households falling in the category of food insecure.  Here in the Tampa Bay area there are more than 200,000 children who live in food insecure households.

Starting right now you can send in your bids for  the number of non-perishable food items you would like to donate to win a free holiday mini session!  We will have six time slots open on November 17th for a holiday themed mini session with a disc of images.  Last year’s winners had such cute pictures to use on their Christmas cards!  This year we decided to give away more than just the sessions.  The largest donation will also receive their choice of two large, beautiful frames.  One frame fits an 18×24 print (frame is 28×34) and the other frame fits a 16×20 print (frame is 30×34).  The second largest donation will get the remaining frame.

Email us with your highest bid for how many non-perishable food items you would like to donate to win one of these mini session time slots and possibly one of the frames as well!  The email should be sent to jasonangelini@aol.com and the subject line should be “Bid for Food Drive.”  We have a minimum bid of 75 food items so keep that in mind when sending in your bid.  We will be accepting bids until midnight on Sunday, November 11th.

The food items must be non-perishable goods in cans, boxes, or plastic jars.  Please do not count any packets, bags, or pouches as part of your bid.  Also the food pantry cannot accept glass jars.  Soup cans, canned vegetables or fruits, plastic jars of peanut butter, cereal boxes, pasta, and rice are great items.  You could even donate a holiday dinner with canned cranberry sauce, a box of stuffing, a box of instant mashed potatoes, and a gift card for a turkey.  We will also accept Publix gift cards for those of you who don’t have time to shop or for those of you who live out of town and want to win a session as a gift for a family here in Florida.  Every $1 on a Publix gift card counts as one food item for your bid.  If you donate a Publix gift card for $100, that would count as a bid of 100 food items.

The mini session can be any type of session including maternity, babies, kids, or even your pet!  However only one family can be included in a session and the bids must be made PER CHILD for every child who will be in the session.  For example, a family session with a mom, dad, and two kids could bid 100 food items per child.  That would make their total bid 200.  Please keep the minimum bid of 75 items in mind!  That means you must bid at least 75 items for each child who will be included in the session!

The six highest bids received by midnight on November 11th will win!  We will announce the winners here on the blog on Monday, November 12th.  We will then contact the winners via email to choose their time slots in the order of the number of food items donated (the most food gets first choice and so on).  All sessions will be on Saturday, November 17th and the winners will bring their donations with them on that day.

The session and disc are completely free to the winners but if any prints or other products are ordered from these sessions we will donate all of the profits from those orders to Feeding America, a hunger relief charity.

TO SUMMARIZE:

-Bids are accepted by emailing Jasonangelini@aol.com from now until midnight on September 11th.

-Bids are for non-perishable food items in cans, boxes, or plastic jars or for Publix gift cards with each dollar counted as one food item.

-Only one family can be included in the session and bids must be made PER CHILD who will be in the session.

-There is a minimum bid of 75 food items PER CHILD.

-Winners will be announced on Monday, November 12th.

-The 6 highest bids will win a free holiday themed mini session with disc to be held on November 17th and donations must be dropped off at the session that day.

-In addition, the highest bid will choose from one of two frames and the remaining frame will go to the second highest bid.

So send in your bids now to win a session of beautiful images to use on your holiday cards while doing some good for your community as well!

Our local food pantry has more and more people all the time who rely on food donations to feed their families.  Even if you can’t make it to a session on the 17th, you can still come by another day to drop off a donation (or mail in a gift card) and be part of our food drive.  We are asking all of our wonderful clients, our family, and our friends to get involved and donate some food items for our food drive!  Every donation helps, no matter how small.  With the loving hearts and generosity of all of you we can help our community and make this year’s food drive a big success!
