Wedding at the Grand Plaza: Jessica and Roger

Jason joined Jessica and Roger for their wedding at the Grand Plaza Beachfront Resort.  Everyone there is so much fun to work with and does a great job!  Jessica got ready with Cari of KyleLynn Weddings.  She looked gorgeous in her custom designed gown made by Yolanda Voss.  Her purse and veil were made to match her dress too!  The flowers were put together by Carter’s Florist and included lots of big orchids.  It was sweet to see how Jessica and Roger made their ceremony special for them and their families.  Jessica made the flower girls’ baskets and the ring bearer shells used in the ceremony.  Roger’s mother passed away recently so the couple included a balloon release as part of their ceremony in her honor. At the reception the DJ was Joe Lorenzo of Expert Productions and the wedding cake was made by Laurie of A Piece of Cake.

Congratulations to a terrific couple on their beautiful beach wedding!  We hope the love and happiness that surrounded you on wedding day is with you both throughout your marriage!  Thanks for having Jason capture such wonderful memories for you!

Wedding at the Grand Plaza: Danielle and Scott

Danielle and Scott came from Texas to get married on the beach at the always terrific Grand Plaza Beachfront Resort.  Jason loves weddings there!  Everyone is always so wonderful to work with.  Orange was the main wedding color and brightened up the wedding.  The bridesmaids wore orange and most of the decor and stationary was orange as well.  At the ceremony the officiant was Reverend Tom Greene.  The videographer was Chad Whelan, Carter’s Florist put together the floral arrangements, and the DJ was from Grant Hemond.

Jason said that one of his favorite parts of the day was Danielle going behind the bar at the reception for a performance of the Red Solo Cup song.  He also loved the gummy lego favors.  It was such a fun day for an awesome couple.  Thanks so much to Danielle and Scott for having Jason there!  We hope your beach fun continued for your honeymoon in Jamaica!

Wedding at the Grand Plaza: Katie and James

…we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had fallen from our branches

we found that we were one tree and not two.

It is a huge compliment when another photographer chooses you to take their pictures.  Especially he is skilled and creative like James Heaslip Photography!  James is a photographer in Canada.  He and Katie came to Florida for a beach wedding at the Grand Plaza (one of Jason’s favorite places for weddings!)  Their team of vendors included Carter’s Florist for flowers, Joe Lorenzo of Expert Productions as the DJ, and a wedding cake from A Piece of Cake.

There were so many details at Katie and James’s wedding that were either fun or sentimental or both.  Katie carried items from both of her grandparents down the aisle with her, including the baseball glove holding her bouquet.  The ceremony was performed by the couple’s best friend Jef who had helped bring them together.  Of course being a photographer himself James had his camera in hand as his bride came down the aisle!  That was a cute moment.  At the reception there was a table where guests could fill out hilarious post cards to be mailed to the couple.  There was also a beautiful photo tribute to family members who had passed away.  The cake topper was personalized to look like the couple, including their wedding attire.  Katie looked amazing in her gown and it fit her personality so well!  The black and white ties that James and the groomsmen wore were stylish and fun.  At the end of the night Katie and James took to the streets for a fierce light saber battle!

Katie and James had their first sight to do their wedding party and family pictures before the ceremony.  They also gave Jason time after the ceremony for some fun wedding party pictures and their bride and groom pictures.  They were able to enjoy some of their cocktail hour and dinner before sneaking out of the reception for a few minutes of bride and groom pictures at sunset.  Then at the end of the reception they went outside for some quick pictures light saber at night!  All too often couples say that pictures are one of the most important things to them but then they try to squeeze all of their family, wedding party, and bride and groom pictures into a short amount of time.  Thanks to Katie and James for planning time into your day to get more creative pictures and more of a variety!  When couples do this they’ll also feel less rushed and more relaxed which will show in the pictures as well.

I love that this entire day was filled with laughter and silliness and personality and friendship.  Congratulations to the newlyweds on such a fantastic wedding!  Thank you so much for having us as a part of it!

Wedding at Sunken Gardens: Sylvia and John

When Sylvia and John stopped by a record store during their awesome engagement session it was just a little taste of what their wedding day would be.  They were married at Sunken Gardens and their day had a really fun music theme!  Desiree from Magical Plan-It Events was the planner and helped put all the details together.  Jason loves working with David and Kristina of Trinity Wedding Video who were there as the videographers.  They shared a Sneak Peek Film that helped to capture the wonderful day.  Sylvia had her makeup done by Beautiful You MakeupCarter’s Florist did the flowers for the day and the bridesmaids’ bouquets were pretty with black feathers under the flowers.  At the reception the caterer was Amici’s Catering, Chantilly Cakes made the wedding cake which had music notes as part of the decoration, and the DJ was Richard Blade who came from California.

Sylvia and John are such sweet people and their wedding was a blast!  The ceremony was just after sunset and the reception was a terrific celebration.  Jason came home from the wedding with so many great songs stuck in his head!  He said there was awesome music all night which you of course have to have when your wedding has a music theme.  The tables were framed album covers from a wide variety of bands.  Favors had a mini record attached that said “Take Me Home Tonight” (I love 80s music!)  Guests signed in on CD info pages that were put into a CD case.  On the tables were papers for guests to write music requests for the DJ.  Kids had fun with legos and coloring books and lots of dancing.  Jason was happy to see Jamie and Tristan who were guests at the wedding.  It was such a fun night for the bride, groom, and all of their guests!

Sylvia and John’s love for each other and their kind hearts are obvious to everyone who sees them.  We are so happy for them!  Congratulations newlyweds!

Wedding at the Grand Plaza: Mallory and Joe

Mallory and Joe came from Ohio to be married on the beach at the wonderful Grand Plaza Beachfront Resort.  As the day began the storm clouds did not look promising for the bright and sunny beach day they were hoping for.  They decided to go ahead with an outdoor ceremony despite the weather and it paid off!  Not only did the clouds clear but as the couple stood holding hands and making promises to each other a beautiful rainbow filled the sky.  Soon after it became a double rainbow and though I can’t look at one without thinking of that stupid YouTube video it was a beautiful background for the ceremony.

Mallory had Destiny & Light Hair and Makeup Artist with her that morning as she got ready.  Bridesmaids carried bouquets of orange orchids and the bride’s bouquet had pink roses mixed in as well.  The flowers were from Carter’s Florist.  The DJ at the reception was Jeff Staples Group and Mallory and Joe had some fun making a mess with their wedding cake from A Piece of Cake.

We are happy that Mallory and Joe were able to have the beach wedding they wanted without the rain.  It was a fun day!  All the best to the newlyweds in their lives as husband and wife!
