Kristen and Jeff’s Clearwater Beach Wedding

Dad was a bit nervous about the weather on Sunday but everything worked out well.  We got some much needed rain but it cleared in time for Kristen and Jeff’s ceremony on the beach of Sand Key Park.  Dad first photographed Kristen and Jeff for their engagement session before they had even set a wedding date!  It had been quite a while since dad had seen them and he was looking forward to their day.  Beth and Shawna of Flawless Occasions were the couple’s wedding planners.  Beth had also been working with Kristen and Jeff for some time and was excited that their day had arrived.  Dad has fun working with Beth and Shawna and they do a great job.

Darla Stafford was terrific as always for Kristen’s hair and makeup.  She is always so sweet.  After getting ready, Kristen met Jeff on the beach for a First Sight.  By seeing each other before the ceremony, they were able to do many of their group pictures then so they could enjoy their cocktail hour before the reception.

With the rain that had passed through nearby areas earlier, the ceremony was windy but the breeze kept the guests cool even as they sat in the sunlight.  After the ceremony Kristen and Jeff took a few more pictures before heading over to  Island Way Grill for their cocktail hour and reception.  The decorations were beached themed with blue linens, centerpieces of candles floating in vases with shells on the bottom, and star fish table markers.  There was also a display of framed pictures from weddings of the couples’ relatives.  Dad liked the guest book the couple had made using their engagement images.

Just before they were introduced for their reception, dad took Kristen and Jeff outside for a short while to get sunset pictures.  Then it was back inside for dinner and dancing!  Guests enjoyed the surf and turf dinner, as did dad!  He said the food was amazing!  It was a wonderful day fo a wonderful couple.  Kristen and Jeff, we hope you have a long and happy life together!  Thanks to you and your families for being so friendly and great to dad.

Dad saw the Snuggie on a tv commercial and thought it looked so comfy!  He told mom that if he lived up north, he’d wear this thing around all the time and mom just laughed at him.  So mom thought it was pretty funny that the best man gave one for the bride and groom during his toast and said that they should use them to snuggle together often.

Meagan and Ryan’s Valentine’s Day Wedding at Mirror Lake Lyceum

Dad has been looking forward to Meagan and Ryan’s wedding since their engagement session.  They were one of the nicest couples you will meet and lots of fun to hang out with!  There are couples you meet and know they are going to make it, and then there are couples you meet and know they are going to do more than just make it; they will be one of those old couples who hold wrinkly hands every where they go and gross people out by kissing even when they have no teeth left.

Meagan and Ryan’s wedding was on Valentine’s Day at Mirror Lake Lyceum.  Meagan had Darla Stafford there for hair and makeup and Flawless Occasions was the couple’s wedding planner.  Beth and Shawna were so nice to give dad some tiny pink tee-shirts as a gift for when the new baby comes.  Thanks!!  The DJ was MJ from Junction 88 Productions and dad enjoyed working with him for the first time.

When mom saw the flowers hanging on the doors, she asked dad where the “Mrs” was.  Dad looked at her funny and told her they stood for Meagan and Ryan.  Geesh mom!

This is one of mom’s favorite pictures from the day.  Meagan is signing “I Love You” to Ryan as she walks down the aisle with tears in her eyes.  So romantic!

As part of their ceremony, Meagan and Ryan had a box covered with images from their engagement session (Meagan made it herself!)  They each wrote each other a letter and placed it in the box along with a bottle of wine.  They promised each other they wouldn’t open it until times were really rough or until their 25th anniversary.  At that point they would sit with each other and drink a glass of the wine as they read each other’s letters.

The guest book had pictures from Meagan and Ryan’s engagement session too.  Dad loves it when couples use their engagement images throughout the wedding!

The newlyweds left through a sparkler send off and got on pedicab from Retro Star Pedicab.  Mom thinks it should be called a bicycle cab or pedal-cab instead of pedicab but either way it was a unique way to leave.  Meagan and Ryan made time in their itinerary for bride and groom pictures after the wedding ended.  Dad claims that it was an accident when he handed Meagan and Ryan the “We Do” letters like this…

While they were walking around, a very drunk man approached Meagan and Ryan to congratulate them.  Stumbling and slurring, he talked about how he could not find his car and needed to find it so he could drive home.  Meagan made sure to tell the man that he should definitely not be driving!  Though this man was not a guest at the reception, mom loves that the couple had a sign on the bar at their reception asking people to be responsible and listing a couple local taxi service numbers.  We hope this guy was too far gone to find his car after all.

It was wonderful for dad to spend Valentine’s day celebrating love.  Meagan and Ryan, you two are truly good people, and you fit so well together!  You will have a beautiful life together.

First Wedding of 2009

What a great way to start off our 2009 weddings!  Ashley and Nathan were married last Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tampa with their reception at the Rusty Pelican.  The couple had a wonderful team of vendors, including Beth and Shawna of Flawless Occasions as the wedding planners (congratulations to them on the new website they just launched!), Darla Stafford for hair and makeup, Botanica International Design Studio for flowers, and DJ Doug Decker from Grant Hemond.  Everyone did a terrific job.

Ashley and Nathan put together such beautiful details for their wedding.  Mom absolutely loved the bridesmaids’ dresses!  The styles were very flattering and the color was gorgeous.  All of the flowers looked great, especially the bridesmaids’ bouquets with orchids and the tall centerpieces at the reception with branches curling out from the top.  The couple included branches on their stationary and their cake as well.  Table markers were pictures of Ashley and Nathan held up on small tree trunks that looked like one of mom’s favorite candles.  We’re not sure what you call the style of linens with raised criss-crossed fabric but those were so pretty along with the other gold linens used as accents and the gold chair bows.  Dad thought the vintage style Rolls Royce waiting for the couple at the end of the night was the best.  Of course on of the most noticeable details were of the Florida Gators.  The bride wore a Gators garter and the groom had a groom’s cake of an Xbox with a gator biting the controller.  Ashley and Nathan entered their reception doing the Gator chomp:).  Whenever mom sees Gator wedding details, she always thinks of both Carly’s and Meghan’s weddings.  Now she’ll remember Ashley’s as well!  Good luck tomorow Gators fans!

Guests at the wedding had a blast and packed the dance floor showing off their moves.  Ashley and Nathan did not stop smiling all day and radiated joy.  We hope their happiness grows as their years together go on.  Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon!

Mom likes the contrast between the religious stained glass above the couple and the grittier look of the downtown buildings behind them.

Ashley and Nathan gave dad lots of time for pictures after the ceremony so after the family groups inside the church they were able to get some great images of them and their wedding party on the streets outside.  Dad had fun!
