Dad had been looking forward to a session with Portia and Aundre’s son for a long time. He was so excited to photograph their son on his first birthday! He played with some toys, tasted a bit of cake, and showed how much changes in just a year when he sat next to the belly cast of his mom’s pregnant belly. We hope you had a fun first birthday!

The day before her son’s birthday, Sophie had dad come over to photograph her little boy’s first birthday session. He showed dad around his play room, played peek-a-boo through his tunnels, and then showed dad how he liked to eat the fake fruit and sneak tupperware out of the kitchen cabinets that he can reach! Dad said it was so cute to watch him explore his house. Then his mom brought out the cake and the fun really got started! Happy first birthday!
Kristina and Robert’s little girl just turned one. Dad went to their house on her birthday for some cake smashing fun! It was great to be able to celebrate on the day of her birthday and to capture some wonderful memories for their family. Kristina and Robert are awesome people and head over heels for their daughter. Dad said it was really sweet to see them with her. Thanks for having dad there, and we hope you had a blast for your first birthday!

Dad first met Carrie and Josh’s son when he was six weeks old. In the blog entry from his baby session, we talked about his full head of dark hair. It is so funny reading that blog post now because we warned Carrie that hair color changes. Here is what we said to her in that blog post:
“When Carrie first emailed about a portrait session for her six-week old baby boy, she said that seeing pictures on the blog of us as babies reminded her of her son because he also had a full head of dark hair. Mom saw pictures of Carrie’s little boy and agrees! But dad warned Carrie that it still might change; both of us have much lighter hair now and one of us is even almost blond!”
Despite this warning, dad almost did not believe this was the same kid when he saw him the Friday before last for his 1 year session. He was blond! It was so much fun to see him explore at Fort DeSoto and then dig into his birthday cake. Dad says Carrie, Josh, and their son are an awesome family. We can’t wait to see what their little boy looks like for his next session

A little over a year ago, dad met Lindsey and Bernard’s baby girl for her newborn session. He got to see her again the week before last but now she was a toddler walking all around! Her parents are just as madly in love with her and dad said it was great seeing Lindsey’s face light up every time she looked at her daughter. It was a fun day at the beach complete with a cake smashing to end the afternoon. Happy first birthday!

On Tuesday Andrea brought her youngest over for a studio session. Their family has become such wonderful friends of ours and we love when we get to celebrate another milestone with them. This milestone was the first birthday for their youngest daughter. It almost didn’t seem like it though because she looked so much like her big sister when she had her smash the cake session! But unlike her sister, Andrea’s youngest had no interested in getting herself messy with cake. Andrea tried to help her out but she wanted nothing to do with it. Earlier in the session dad had her in a tutu and she posed covering her chest so she is both modest and clean! Rare traits in a toddler.

It has been 3 1/2 years since dad photographed Bronwyn and Robin’s wedding and in that time they have become good friends of ours. We are so blessed to have them as friends because they really are amazing people. We’d say more nice things about them but Robin doesn’t read the blog anyways so we won’t bother. 
Next month their adorable son is turning one! Bronwyn and Robin brought him over Sunday morning for his one year session. It was great to see them again and to meet some of Bronwyn’s family from Wales! Happy Early Birthday and we’re excited for the monkey party!

Alison, Trae, and their son are an amazing family. Dad met them a little over a year ago when they were still waiting for their little boy to arrive.
When Alison and Trae brought their son over for his newborn session we all got to meet him. We could already tell how much love and fun was in this family!
At five months old, their son’s personality was already showing itself. He had such funny expressions and such a cute smile.
We were sad when their family moved away, but they came back to Florida for a visit and dad was able to see them last Tuesday for their little boy’s one year old session! Dad went to Alison’s parents house and said that they were just as fun and kind as Alison and Trae. They also adored their grandson! He still had the same happy personality and he was still making his funny faces. Dad had a terrific time with the family and cannot wait for the next time they come back for a visit. Happy First Birthday!!

It made mom and dad so proud to see this wall of photos on Alison’s parent’s wall. They are framed prints of past sessions dad photographed of their grandson! It is an incredible honor to know that these images are decorating their family’s home and are going to be part of this family’s history and memories.

On Friday, Tiffany and Tom brought their little boy over for his one year session. Dad couldn’t believe it was time for that already! Dad was looking forward to seeing them again because they are such a fun family. They did not disappoint! The session included a cake smashing as a birthday celebration. The birthday boy did not hesitate to dig in! Not only did he smash, but he also picked up handfuls and lathered the frosting all over himself! Frosting is much more fun that soap to lather with. Though mom and dad had a big job afterward with the rinsing and did not let him try for a repeat!
It is an incredible honor to be part of this wonderful family’s lives and we are grateful to Tiffany and Tom for having us there to freeze the time that speeds by so quickly. Thanks to Tiffany, Tom, and their little boy and we look forward to next time!
So much changes in a baby’s first year. They go from a tiny newborn who has to learn to interact with their world to a toddler who has their own personality and explores everything they find! Dad gets so excited when he gets to see these changes and capture them through images. A year ago dad photographed a newborn session and now that newborn was back as a toddler and ready for some first birthday pictures! After showing off some great expressions, he ended the session by smashing into a birthday cake. Happy First Birthday!! We can’t wait to see how big you are next time we get to see you!
