Smash and Squish

Selena and James brought their son over for his first birthday session and it was awesome!  Any time a toddler gets a cake put in front of him or her, fun is sure to result.  This little boy smeared and squished and smashed his birthday cake and did a great job of it!  Mom was amazed that he could cover his legs and pants almost completely in cake, but keep his face relatively clean in comparison.  Happy First Birthday!  It only gets more fun from here on out :) .

First Birthday!

Mom and dad always say that one of their favorite parts of their job is the people they get to meet.  Weslie and her family are so awesome.  We first met them for a newborn session and through their daughter’s first year they’ve become friends of ours.  Their little girl just turned one and came for her first birthday session on Friday.  The changes that occur during the first year of a baby’s life are incredible.  They grow so quickly and every week or two there is a new milestone!  It was so fun for dad to capture that for Weslie and Jeremy’s daughter this past year.

And now her one year pictures!  Dad must have been boring because things started off with a big yawn:

And now for the fun to begin.  Time to smash the cake!

Well maybe not smash.  Maybe just pinch the cake.

She didn’t seem too sure about the getting messy part.

Could it be that there is a kid that isn’t sure if she likes cake?

Cake-flavored pacifier is just as yummy.

Happy birthday!  Thank you so much for sharing your first year with us, even after moving out of state!  We are so happy to have met your family and we are excited for all the wonderful blessings you have in your lives right now.  Come back and visit soon!

My Three Sons

For those who didn’t watch Nick at Nite back when the shows really were classic television, My Three Sons was a show in the 60′s and was one of the longest running family sitcoms.  James and Lara’s family really doesn’t have anything in common with the plot of the show, but they are the proud parents to three boys so the theme song to the show kept coming into mom’s head as she was looking through their pictures.  Their boys are all under five, with the youngest just turning one.  We would have so much fun playing with them!

Dad met up with their family last Friday afternoon at Fort DeSoto for a family session and a super fun smash the cake session to celebrate the youngest’s first birthday!  Dad was also happy to see Stephanie, the family’s nanny.  Dad will be photographing Stephanie and Louis’s wedding in May!

Dad had fun running around with the boys inside the fort and screaming to hear the echos they made.  The boys were all so cute and it was a fun afternoon of exploring “secret passages” and obliterating a birthday cake.

Happy First Birthday!

Little Brother’s First Birthday Session

With one of us just starting preschool and the other turning one in a few days, mom has been extra sappy towards us lately. We won’t say anything about how quickly kids grow up or that sort of thing because mom will start crying again (though she says they are proud and happy tears too). Instead, we’ll go right to pictures from the 1 year session.

Mom thinks big brother looks much too big in this picture:

Looking skeptical:

Messy!!

But yummy.

Mom and dad were hoping for this picture since they thought it was so funny when James and Allison’s daughter did it at her first birthday session:

Down to business…SMASH!

Looking cute in the mess.

Soon we’ll have pictures from the party which is going to be so much fun!
