Lisa and Joe in Sanibel

Though dad just got back from a trip to New York City without us, last summer we all got to go there on a family vacation.  While we were there, dad met up with Lisa and Joe and photographed their engagement session.  They are incredibly nice and lots of fun!  Dad has been looking forward to their wedding ever since the session.

Saturday Lisa and Joe’s wedding day finally arrived!  The couple had the wonderful wedding planners of Weddings by Socialites to help them with their day.  Dad said they were terrific to work with!  Rob and his team from AMC Video were the videographers and they were great as well.  The couple had their ceremony at the Sundial Beach and Golf Resort with the reception following at the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa.

Dad loved seeing so many of the couple’s engagement pictures used at the wedding.  The front of the reception room had a big canvas of the couple in Times Square on display.  Tables were named by Italian words with a corresponding picture from the engagement session, and the guest book was an album of engagement images.  It was a terrific way to personalize the reception and bring NYC to Florida.

Many of the guests were from out of town and came down to celebrate with Lisa and Joe and enjoy the Florida sun.  The bride and groom set up lots of yummy treats for their guests including a sundae bar, cookies, a table with tons of candy, and a special surprise for everyone, a nutella station.  Lisa and Joe, carrying giant spoons, brought out the nutella with the song Pure Imagination from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory playing.  Dad loves that song and thought it was an awesome choice!  Guest favors were silver spoons to use with the nutella.

It was a wonderful day and we are so happy for Lisa and Joe!  Congratulations you two, and be sure to stay in touch!  Dad will probably be making another trip to NYC late this summer and hopes you can get together while he’s there.

The kids at the wedding had so much fun at their special kids’ table.  It was named “Ridere” which means laughter in Italian, and the engagement picture on the table marker is of Joe putting ice cream on Lisa’s face.

More Fun in New York City

While dad was in NYC, he had the opportunity to spend a day learning from Jason Groupp.  Jason does terrific I ♡ NY sessions and set up a session with Christina and Jorge, two professional dancers/actors in the city.  It was a great day and dad sends a big thank you to Christina, Jorge, and especially Jason!  Dad says Jason is awesome and he had a blast with him!  Thanks so much for making time for dad and sharing your advice!

Jenifer and Ian in NYC

Last May dad photographed Erin and Bill’s wedding.  Not only were they great people, but their families were wonderful too.  When Erin’s mom contacted them and told them that Erin’s brother Ian was now engaged, dad was so excited!  Ian and his fiance Jen are getting married in St. Augustine in January and dad cannot wait for their wedding.  They are an awesome couple!  Dad met up with them for their engagement session while he was in NYC and said that they are both incredibly nice and down to earth people.  Their session was dad’s last one in NYC and they had it on Wednesday in Brooklyn. After a fun session getting kicked out of the gardens, Jen and Ian treated dad to lunch and they got to talk more about the wedding coming up.  It is going to be beautiful!  Jen and Ian, thanks so much for a great afternoon!  Dad had a terrific time with the two of you and can’t wait to see you again.

Ridiculously Cute Baby in NYC

In December we blogged the 3 month portrait session for Ridiculously Cute Baby :) .  When dad was in NYC, he did another session with him and he surely lives up to his name!  Dad said you could put him any where and he’d just look around smiling and laughing.  He is adorable!  He also has two amazing parents.  Dad photographed Rachel and Seth’s wedding almost 2 1/2 years ago.  They lived in Paris at the time but have now moved back to New York City.  How awesome would it be to live in both of those cities?!  They are great people and we are so happy we have gotten to know them and kept in touch.  See you all next time you come to visit FL or we are in NYC!

Subway Session in NYC with Meghan and Eric

This week dad spent a few days in New York City photographing some sessions and meeting with the awesome Jason Groupp (more on that in another blog update!)  The trip started off a bit shaky when dad ran into some horrible travel issues that got him into the city much later than he was supposed to and was met with heavy rain.  Everyone that was supposed to meet up with dad that day was so understanding and flexible so thanks so much to them!  Meghan and Eric met dad late Monday night for a session in the subways of NYC.  They are an awesome couple whose wedding dad photographed almost two years ago, just days before little brother’s due date!  Dad was excited to see them again and had a great time during the session.  Thanks to Meghan and Eric for making the time and location work!  Let us know the next time you are down in FL (maybe for a Gators game?!)

Mom just had to share one more picture that Meghan sent her (she made sure to ask Meghan first if it was okay).  Meghan saw our blog post from Kristen and Jeff’s wedding where we mentioned that mom thought dad was funny for wanting a Snuggie.  She told mom that Snuggies were actually popular enough that a Snuggie Pub Crawl was being organized in NYC.  We blogged about it and told Meghan she should go so we had to blog the follow-up:

Meghan and Eric went and said it was just as ridiculous and crazy and yet super fun as you might imagine it being.  If only dad was in NYC a couple of days earlier we know he would have joined you!

Summer and Ryan at the Don CeSar

Sunday was Summer and Ryan’s wedding day at the Don CeSar on the St. Petersburg beach.   The weather was beautiful for their ceremony outside in the courtyard.  The officiant was Pastor Steve Wells from the North Pointe Church.  Dad said he was such a nice guy and seemed energetic and genuinely happy.  Summer was smiling and crying as she was escorted down the aisle by her dad.  Ryan couldn’t stop smiling as he waited for Summer to join him and become his wife.

The reception was filled with family and friends who enjoyed being together and celebrating Summer and Ryan’s love.  Eric Hardy of Hardy & Co DJ and Wedding Service was the DJ and Laurie from A Piece of Cake made the couple’s cake covered in shells and bright yellow orchids.  The wedding flowers were done by the Don CeSar’s Seaside Florals and included lots of bright yellows and oranges with highlights of green.

Congratulations to Summer and Ryan!  We wish you lots of happiness in your marriage.  Dad says thanks for having him share your wedding day with you!

Sara and Justin at the Powel Crosley Estate

On Saturday Sara and Justin were married at the Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota.  Dad photographed their engagement last year and was looking forward to seeing them again.  Sara looked like a classic bride in her updo, pearl necklace, beautifully embellished V-neck gown, and bouquet of white flowers.  The wedding colors were white with tiffany blue and brown accents.  The ceremony took place on the back deck with a gorgeous blue sky, fluffy clouds, and warm sun.  Rob of Sword Sounds officiated the wedding and was the DJ for the reception as well.

There was a lot of dancing and laughing at the reception as guests celebrated Sara and Justin’s marriage.  The couple had a beautiful day and we wish them the best for a beautiful life together.  Thanks for having us as a part of your wedding!

First Birthday!

So much changes in a baby’s first year.  They go from a tiny newborn who has to learn to interact with their world to a toddler who has their own personality and explores everything they find!  Dad gets so excited when he gets to see these changes and capture them through images.  A year ago dad photographed a newborn session and now that newborn was back as a toddler and ready for some first birthday pictures!  After showing off some great expressions, he ended the session by smashing into a birthday cake.  Happy First Birthday!!  We can’t wait to see how big you are next time we get to see you!

Tegan and Daniel at the Spring Jubilee

Every year our church has a fair with food and rides and entertainment.  When Tegan mentioned wanting a fun engagement session and brought up a fair as one of her ideas, dad told her about St. Stephen’s Spring Jubilee.  The first day is always the least crowded so dad met Tegan and Daniel on Thursday at the fair.  What an awesome session!  They bought lots of tickets to ride the rides and enjoy themselves while dad took pictures.  Mom absolutely loves the outfit and hair accessory Tegan chose.  She looked gorgeous! Dad says thanks for a fun evening at the fair!  He’ll see you two next month on your wedding day!!

Meghan and Jeff’s Ybor City Engagement Session

Dad was so excited to meet Meghan and Jeff on Wednesday.  They are getting married on 11-11-11!  What a fun wedding date!  Their engagement party is coming up next month so they had their engagement session now to use some of their pictures at the party.  They met dad in Ybor City and had a fun time walking around the city for their urban session.  They are a great couple and it is going to be wonderful to follow their planning process leading up to their wedding.
