Katie and Alan at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort

We were all excited about Thursday’s wedding for Katie and Alan!  Katie is my aunt Lora’s boss so we had been hearing about the wedding from aunt Lora for a while.  Katie has such a kind heart and we were happy to be a part of her day.

The wedding was held at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort.  Katie started her morning with the fabulous Darla Stafford for hair and makeup.  The florist for the wedding was Iza’s Flowers and Jacob from Music on the Move was the DJ for the reception.

Dad loved that the couple had Mia, their cute dog, as the ring bearer.  She wore a bandana in lavender, the wedding color, held on with a rhinestone pin.  The groom’s uncle officiated the ceremony which was held on the covered porch facing the beach.  Dad said the food at the reception was really yummy and all the guests enjoyed an evening together to celebrate Katie and Alan and their new life together.

Katie did not stop smiling all day!

Erin and Robert’s Engagement Session

Erin and Robert spent part of their Spring Break visiting Sarasota and meeting up with dad for an engagement session.  Their wedding is going to be at the Powel Crosley Estate in May of next year.  They wanted their engagement pictures to match up with the vintage theme of their wedding so they chose Phillippi Estate Park as the location.  Early Wednesday morning dad met Erin and Robert there and they enjoyed the pretty weather as they walked around the park for pictures.

Erin and Robert will have been engaged about as long as mom and dad were engaged before their wedding.  Mom says that it goes by much faster than you think it will!  See you two next year!

Angela and Carlos at the Powel Crosley Estate

Angela and Carlos were married last Monday at the Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota.  Angela’s sister-in-law is Mollie Grady, a wedding and portrait photographer in Sarasota.  Mollie has a little girl and one day we are going to have a play date!  Dad enjoyed seeing Mollie again at the wedding.

The wedding colors were white and green which brought out the organic look of the start of Spring.  There were lots of floating candles and hydrangea.  The larger floral arrangements had long branches coming up from them.  Eddy Lugo, a classical guitarist, played during the ceremony which a family member officiated.  He also played at the start of the reception before Sean Dennison took over the music.  Every table at the reception had bottles of wine with labels personalized with the couple’s pictures.  As favors, guests were given a tree seedling in a pretty satchel tied with a bow.  At the end of the night dad said it was fun to watch the couple and their son leave the Crosley in a boat!  What a great departure.

Mollie had photographed Angela’s getting ready before dad arrived so dad started the day with some portraits.  Here is the lovely bride, Angela:

Smash and Squish

Selena and James brought their son over for his first birthday session and it was awesome!  Any time a toddler gets a cake put in front of him or her, fun is sure to result.  This little boy smeared and squished and smashed his birthday cake and did a great job of it!  Mom was amazed that he could cover his legs and pants almost completely in cake, but keep his face relatively clean in comparison.  Happy First Birthday!  It only gets more fun from here on out :) .

Amber and Thomas at the Lange Farm

Dad started his day on Saturday at Shear Art Salon in Tampa.  Amber and her bridesmaids got their hair done there before being picked up by a limo and heading to The Lange Farm.  Dad loves the staff at the Lange Farm, and the location is awesome.  It was so fun for dad to run into Nancy and Tracy as they had a meeting there!  They are a couple whose wedding dad will be photographing in June of 2010.

Colored wedding shoes are so cute.  Amber had blue shoes to wear under her beautiful gown.  The gown was both romantic and fun with pretty detailing and ribbon banding on it.  Long ribbons were also part of the decor on many of the floral arrangements and bouquets, though those ribbons were in the wedding colors of peach and blue.  Mom thought the color combination was unique and looked cute together!  Dad loved that the couple included many images from their engagement session throughout their day.  One of the pictures was the front cover for the programs.  Another was in a beautiful frame etched with the lyrics to “It Had to Be You.”  Dad’s favorite though was the groom’s cake.  Even on your wedding day, sometimes your friends just have to rag on you.  Thomas had taken the day off of work when he had his engagement session.  When his friends and co-workers saw one of his pictures, they couldn’t help but tease him by making it into a funny cake.  Another detail at the wedding that dad really loved was the statue made to look like the couple.  One of the groomsmen made it using pictures of the couple and of the bride’s dress.  He did a great job replicating both the couple and Amber’s dress.  Dad wants him to make one of our family!

Amber and Thomas had Collin Towers as their videographer, A Better Cheesecake for their wedding cake, and the talented Felix the DJ at the reception to keep the party going.  It was a great day, and even when things started to run behind the couple was still in high spirits and ready for fun!  At the end of the night, they departed through a bubble send off.  Congratulations Amber and Thomas!

Jessica and Chris’s Tampa Engagement Session

The rain held off for one more session last Sunday!  Despite the dark skies, dad had a terrific time with Jessica and Chris for their engagement session in Tampa.  Chris was a groomsman in Brie and Rich’s wedding and now his own wedding is coming up in just a few weeks at the Davis Island Garden Club.

Thanks to Jessica and Chris for being flexible about the when and where of your session!  Dad will see you two very soon!

Liz and Wes in Ybor City

Though it rained after the first session dad photographed on Sunday, it thankfully passed quickly.  When dad saw the skies clearing he called Liz and Wes.  They were able to push their session back and meet in Ybor City Sunday afternoon.  It actually worked out really well because the marathon that was going on in Tampa was over and they could have the session here where they had originally wanted it.

Liz and Wes are getting married at the Grand Plaza in May.  They are a gorgeous couple and dad enjoyed hanging out with them.  See you two in just a couple months!

Regina and Michael at The Pier

Regina and Michael had their engagement session all set for last Sunday morning in Tampa when Regina saw a billboard for a marathon.  Sure enough, it was scheduled to be at the exact place they had planned on meeting dad for their session.  Dad was grateful when she emailed to let him know because he had three other sessions scheduled there for that day as well!  It might have been fun to have a marathon going on in the background for a few pictures, but not for a full session!  So they planned on meeting at The Pier instead.

And then the weather forecast came in.  Rain and possible thunderstorms were called for and that morning the skies looked like they agreed.  Regina and Michael woke up bright and early to meet dad and hopefully beat the rain!  It was windy and the skies were gray, but the couple was still in great spirits!  They walked around the area by The Pier and were all smiles the whole time.  Thanks for being so great about everything, Regina and Michael!  Dad can’t wait to see you both again this June!

Samantha and Jason at Mixon Fruit Farms

When dad first met with Samantha and Jason and heard that they would be getting married at a fruit farm, he was excited for their big day.  He could already smell the fresh oranges!  Dad got to photograph the couple during their engagement session in Bradenton and again at a studio session for a different style of engagement pictures as well.  They were really sweet and dad knew their day was going to be wonderful.

On Saturday dad headed over to Mixon Fruit Farm in Bradenton for the wedding.  It was a laid back day with a fun bridal party and terrific family and friends.  The reception had Wayne Delair of Delair Entertainment as the DJ and dad said he is a genuinely kind person.  Everyone enjoyed the party, thanks in part to the jello shooters that were a big hit!  Congratulations Samantha and Jason, and enjoy your cruise!
