Melissa and James at the Rusty Pelican

Melissa and James were married on Friday evening at the Rusty Pelican.  Dad met up with Melissa earlier in the day as she enjoyed a morning of pampering at The Artistry in Plant City.  The bride and her Maid of Honor started the wedding day with manicures and pedicures.  Melissa had her hair and makeup done there as well, and then went with her maid of honor to Merle Norman to watch her makeup being done.  It was a laid back “girl time” morning.

The sunset had a beautiful golden hue that evening.  James was so happy to see Melissa as she came down the aisle and was tearing up as the ceremony began.  It was an intimate wedding and the family and friends there had smiles on their faces the entire time Melissa and James exchanged vows, rings, and then a kiss.  During the ceremony, the couple also presented flowers to their mothers.  Mom thinks that is so sweet!

It was getting dark out as the ceremony ended and dad began the pictures but the last of the sunlight still made the sky look pretty.  The reception room had white linens with red chair bows and centerpieces were candles in a holder filled with crystals and tiny red roses.  Red as the wedding color went really well in the reception room with the red carpet around the dance floor.  Melissa and James had so much fun dancing and enjoying the night.  After the reception ended dad took the newlyweds outside for a few last pictures.  They were smiling and laughing just as much at the end of the day as they were at the beginning.

Congratulations Melissa and James, and thank you for having dad there to capture your wedding day!

Kristin and Chris’s Engagement Session

Wednesday evening dad met Kristin and Chris for their engagement session in Sarasota.  They started their session on the streets and then made their way to the beach for sunset.  Dad said they were a very sweet couple and looked at each other with such love in their eyes.  Their wedding is next March in Tampa and is going to be wonderful.  Here are some of the images from their session:

Vacation on the Beach

Karin and her son came down from Kansas for a Florida vacation.  They stayed at the beautiful Sheraton Sand Key Resort.  Dad met them on Tuesday for a beach session at Sand Key Park and had so much fun!  They explored the beach, climbed rocks, splashed in the water, and played in the sand.  Dad loves sessions where kids can just be themselves and he can capture their personalities and expressions.  Karin’s son was awesome!  Next time they come down to visit Florida, dad hopes he can see them again!

Laura and Chris at the Grand Plaza

The Grand Plaza on St. Pete Beach is a great location for weddings!  Laura and Chris were married there on Sunday.  They were a terrific couple, and their personalities made for a laid back and fun wedding.  Not only were Laura and Chris great people, but their families were also super nice and dad enjoyed spending the day with all of them.

Kristy at the Grand Plaza did a wonderful job coordinating the wedding and dad was happy to see her again.  The couple also had Jennie’s Flowers as the florist, Rick Pegram from Breezin Entertainment as the DJ, and a gorgeous cake made by Le Cheesecake.

The weather was beautiful for a beach wedding!  The day before was really windy but the breeze on Sunday was just enough to cool the guests off as they enjoyed spring in Florida.  The pink tulips used in the bouquets and centerpieces also brought the look of spring to the day.  At the reception, Laura broke out some awesome dance moves, including the fish and fishing pole!  She was laughing all night long, and Chris wore a loving smile every time he looked at her.  The couple are headed to Costa Rica for their honeymoon.  Have a terrific time!  Congratulations newlyweds!

Claire and Shai at the Mirror Lake Lyceum

Claire and Shai are married!  Dad photographed their wedding on Saturday at the Mirror Lake Lyceum.  They first booked dad at the end of 2007 and had their engagement session about a year ago so dad has been looking forward to their day for a while.  Mom has been talking to Claire about the wedding plans and details through email and she was really excited to see how everything came together.  And it came together beautifully!

It is always wonderful to work with Darla Stafford, and she is so talented!  She did Claire’s hair and makeup the morning of the wedding as she got ready at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort.  Claire looked amazing!  Her gown was perfect for her and the detailing both around the waist and down the train was gorgeous.  Meghan and Angela from Dream Day Productions were the wedding coordinators.  Dad was happy to see them again and they did a terrific job.

To get family pictures done before the ceremony, Claire and Shai had a First Sight.  Shai had the biggest smile as he waited for Claire, who was teary with emotion, to approach from behind.  It was a really sweet moment.  Seeing each other before the ceremony did not take anything away from the emotion of Claire coming down the aisle though!  That moment brought both the bride and groom to tears.  Marci Vitkus was the officiant and led the couple through the Jewish traditions that they included.  Dad has worked with Marci before and thinks she is great.

The wedding colors were green and purple with accents in white and the reception room was decorated with bright floral arrangements in those colors as well as linens and chair sashes to make the tables pretty.  Mom liked how the guest tables were round and had white tablecloths and green chair sashes to contrast with the head table which was a long table with a green table cloth and white chair sashes.  Chivari chairs were used at both the ceremony and reception and dressed up the look.

Rob Sword of Sword Sounds was the DJ and Claire, Shai, and their guests had a blast on the dance floor!  During the reception, Claire changed into a fun dress and her and Shai performed a salsa dance.  They also packed the dance floor for the Hora.  Claire and Shai took a quick break from dancing to get some pictures outside the Lyceum at night, but when they went back in they weren’t ready for the party to end and neither were their guests!  Everyone was having such a wonderful time that the couple extended the reception to make the special day last a bit longer and to celebrate for just a little while more.

What a terrific day for an awesome couple.  Claire and Shai are great people and we know they are going to have happy life together.  Congratulations and thanks so much for having us as a part of your wedding!

Jessica and Troy at the Don Vicente de Ybor

On Friday dad joined Jessica and Troy at the Don Vicente de Ybor Historic Inn to celebrate their wedding.  Close friends and family were there to share their day, including a group of super cute babies and kids!  The bride and groom’s son was so adorable, starting the day off with a nap so he’d be ready to party later :) .  Jessica had Michele Renee from the Michele Renee Hair and Makeup Artist Group there to help her get ready that morning.  The wedding colors were black and red and Jessica had a black ribbon around her dress along with black shoes to complete the look.

After the ceremony, dad did the group pictures on the streets of Ybor.  The streets and buildings make a nice background.  During their reception, Jessica and Troy went outside with dad for a few more pictures on the streets at night as well.  A Piece of Cake made a yummy looking white cake with chocolate spilling down each of the three layers.  Red roses and a rhinestone initial decorated the cake.  To decorate the reception tables, a glass vase holding a candle and lots of red roses sat on a shimmery white table runner which was over the black linens.

Congratulations newlyweds!  Thanks for a great day!

Sunday Cookout

Last Sunday we had a fantastic time with friends and family.  To enjoy the weather before it gets too hot out, we all headed to the park for a barbeque.  Hot dogs and hamburgers, watermelon and brownies, water balloons and bubbles…it was so much fun!  We all had got to relax and just enjoy ourselves which was awesome.  Dad didn’t take too many pictures because he was too busy throwing water balloons and getting giant frisbees stuck in trees, but here are a couple images from our day.

Candice and Eugene at the Park

On Sunday Candice and Eugene met dad at the park to finish up their earlier engagement session in Tampa a couple months ago.  For their first session they had brought numbers to hold so they could then use the images to number their tables at their reception.  When they were only half way through the numbers it had started to rain hard and they didn’t get to finish all the numbers.  Sunday was part two of their session since the first one was rained out.  To make up for the rain last time, Sunday was a gorgeous day and dad was able to get some great images for Candice and Eugene.

Summer and Frank at the Mirror Lake Lyceum

Last Saturday Summer and Frank were married at the Mirror Lake Lyceum.  Summer and Frank had the talented Darla Stafford for Summer’s hair and makeup, Christine from The Bridal Florist for the flowers, and Keith from Sword Sounds as the DJ.   Dad photographed the couple’s engagement session in September and it was awesome.  They were up for anything, even getting in the water at night, so dad knew their wedding was going to be lots of fun.  Summer and Frank made their engagement pictures into a signature guest book at the reception.

Summer looked gorgeous!  She wore a beautiful mermaid style gown and had her hair half up and pulled back into long curls.  She carried a bouquet of purple flowers to go with the wedding colors of purple with accents of bright green.  Dad got to take home a centerpiece of white hydrangea with purple tulips and the fresh hydrangea smelt so good!  One of mom’s favorite details of the night was the guests names written on decorative tags hanging on potted trees.  Another fun detail Summer and Frank had for their guests was a big chalk board where the guests could write the bride and groom a message and take their picture in front of it.  At the end of the night, after lots of fun dancing, the newlyweds left through a sparkler send 0ff.

Summer and Frank are a great couple and we are so happy for them.  Congratulations and enjoy the honeymoon!

Melissa and Brian at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club

Friday was Melissa and Brian’s wedding day at  Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club in Bradenton.  Dad had photographed the couple’s engagement session in Orlando and they were really sweet.  He knew their wedding was going to be terrific.

Melissa had her hair styled by Jen Carr and her makeup done by Kristine Aronson of Fabulous Faces.  She looked so pretty!  The bridesmaids wore brown dresses from JCrew to match the wedding colors of brown and pink.  Mom wishes JCrew would start making maternity clothes!  Flowers by Don created the bouquets and floral arrangements in pink and white.

Before the ceremony, Melissa and Brian had a first sight where they alone shared that special moment of seeing each other for the first time.  They were then able to have most of their family groups and wedding party pictures done before the ceremony so that they could spend more time with their guests afterward.

Three members of the couple’s wedding party were notaries so Melissa and Brian’s ceremony was made even more meaningful by having their close friends officiate.  Dad said it was emotional to watch the parents get teary during the vows.  For the reception, the couple had Fitz Otis from Jay Goodley Entertainment as the DJ and Beautiful Cakes by Ron make their brown and white decorated wedding cake.  It was a beautiful wedding and we wish Melissa and Brian all the best in their life as husband and wife.  Congratulations!
