Nikki and Steve at the Renaissance Tampa Hotel International Plaza

On Sunday Nikki and Steve were married at the Renaissance Tampa Hotel International Plaza.  It was dad’s first time photographing a wedding there and other than the overly dedicated parking guard :) he thought the people there were great.  Nikki’s morning started super early as she had her hair done at 5:30 am by Michele Renee of Michelle Renee Hair and Makeup Artist Group.  Dad joined her a couple hours later and everyone seemed energetic and upbeat despite the early start.  Shawna from Flawless Occasions was the couple’s planner and dad thought she did a great job.  After emailing with her, it was great to meet her in person!  The couple also had R-J Vida from Advance Entertainment as their DJ for the night.

Dad had two favorite parts to Nikki and Steve’s wedding.  The first was Nikki’s surprise to Steve during the reception.  Nikki had arranged for a barbershop quartet to sing as dinner began.  Dad thought they sounded great and he liked their rendition of Auld Lang Syne.  Dad’s other favorite was the cake topper on the cake made by Chef Nelson’s Cake Studio.  It was Rudolph and Clarice from the Christmas television special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.  Dad was excited to show us a picture of the cake topper because he knew we would think it was cool.  Dad also likes to share the useless trivia that Rudolph was originally “invented” in 1939 for Montgomery Ward department stores.  Mom remembers shopping there as a kid and during Christmas their bags had big pictures of Rudolph on them.

Of course another part of the wedding dad loved was working with Nikki and Steve.  They were focused on what was really important about the day; not the wedding itself as much as the marriage.  They were starting their lives together as husband and wife and they kept that in their minds and hearts all day.  Nikki and Steve, thank you for having dad there for your wedding day and we wish you the best!

Heather and Richard’s Wedding

Just before Christmas we blogged about Heather and Richard’s engagement session and now we can share some pictures of their wedding which took place the Saturday after Christmas!  Dad met up with Heather that morning as Julissa of Beauty Brought Out was there for hair and makeup.  Heather was just as relaxed and silly on her wedding day as she was at her engagement session.  Dad was happy to see Lauren again too!  She was a bridesmaid in the wedding.  All of the girls were laughing and enjoying the morning, even the two flower girls who were a lot of fun all day.

The ceremony took place at Church of the Palms in Sarasota and it was decorated for Christmas.  There were poinsettias all over the alter along with Christmas trees, garland, and big wreaths.  It looked so pretty and festive!  The reception was held at the Sahib Shriners Convention Hall and the DJ was Brian with Black Tie DJs.  Dad says you can tell that a party is really going well when the macarena can pack the dance floor.  Heather, Richard, and both of their families were so nice and dad enjoyed celebrating such a great day with them.

We hope you both have a wonderful life together and always have as many smiles for one another as you did on your wedding day!

Merry Christmas!

We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and enjoyed their days with their friends and family.  We love the excitement and traditions of Christmas!  On Christmas Eve our whole family went to Mass together.  Everyone wore their nice outfits but we looked the best of course.

In this picture, I had a Santa tie that played Christmas music and mom made me promise not to play it during Mass.  I kept my promise, but Aunt Lora pressed the button during a quiet moment and we had to all keep our hands over the tie to keep it quiet until the music was over.  Thanks Aunt Lora!

After church we went to grandma’s for dinner.  Mom told us to share these pictures of our aunts because she likes to try to embarrass her sisters.

Our tradition is to open one present on Christmas Eve.  Though it was fun to open one of our gifts, it really isn’t fair to kids to get them excited by opening just one and then sending them to bed.

We put out a carrot for the reindeer and milk, cookies, and a letter for Santa before reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and then going to bed.  We say going to bed instead of going to sleep because that took much longer.

Last of the Sunday Sessions

The last of the three sessions dad had on Sunday was with Amber, Billy, and their three month old girl.  Amber and Billy were also married at the Powel Crosley Estate and dad had lots of fun doing pictures of the two of them and their wedding party.  One of mom’s favorite pictures that dad has taken at the Crosley is of Amber facing Billy who is standing in the tall grass in front of the Sarasota Bay.

Looking at the pictures of Amber and Billy’s daughter, mom thinks she is really a perfect mix of both of them.  She definitely has Amber’s hair and mouth, but she has Billy’s eyes and nose too.  She was a bit fussy but still gave dad some cute smiles.

Dad was so happy to meet Amber and Billy’s little girl and see all three of them together as a new happy family.  And to all three of the couples and their babies, thank you so very much for having us share in your lives.  We feel so blessed and grateful to be a part of your families and to capture these memories for you!

Ridiculously Cute Baby

The second session dad photographed on Sunday was with Rachel and Seth and their son.  Rachel and Seth were married in December of 2006 at the Powel Crosley Estate.  Their wedding had lots of great details, many of which Rachel put together herself.  She has an awesome blog where she is known as “Crafty Rachel.”  It is very fitting!  Mom is jealous of Rachel’s craft skills.  She can knit, crochet, sew, you name it!  She was a guest blogger for us in the past to help brides with Do It Yourself flowers on a wedding day as well.

Dad loves how laid back Rachel and Seth are.  He said you only have to spend five minutes with them to see how thoroughly they love being parents.  Mom saw pictures on Rachel’s blog of their little boy and told dad to be prepared for a ridiculously cute baby.  Once dad met him, he totally agreed!  Rachel and Seth have such an adorable baby boy with his big blue eyes, his hair, and his expressive face.

Isn’t he just too cute!!!

We’re so happy you came down to Florida for a visit!  Let us know when you are back in town again…mom wants a play date so she can meet the baby too!

Studio Sunday

Dad had an awesome day on Sunday!  Three of his past wedding couples came over for pictures with their babies!!  How fun is that?!  It is so meaningful to be a part of the progression of life changing moments.  When mom and dad got married, part of their wedding vows included the promise to accept children from God lovingly and bring them up according to their faith.  To photograph the children of couples whose weddings dad played some small part is that much more special to him.

The first session was with Stephanie and Andy’s baby girl.  They were married in April of 2006 at the Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg and their daughter was born at the end of October.  Dad was happy to see Stephanie and Andy again though he is sad that they will be moving out of the state soon.  They are kind and wonderful people and you can see what great parents they are by all the smiles their daughter gave during the session.  Even without a smile, she had the an adorable serene expression on her face.

Good luck with the move, and when you are back in Florida be sure to come by so we can see how much bigger your little girl will be!

‘Twas the Last Wedding Before Christmas

Last Monday dad photographed Anna and John’s wedding, the last wedding for dad before Christmas.  They were married on the beach and had their reception at Palma Sola Botanical Park.  Stacy from Meant to Be Wed was the coordinator and Rob Sword of Sword Sounds was the DJ for the reception.

Anna and John are from Wyoming and dad wanted them to get married there and have him photograph the wedding so he could enjoy the snow, but they had a warm Florida wedding day which we are sure their guests appreciated.  The weather was beautiful most of the day until just before the reception when it began to rain.  But to make it up to Anna and John, they were able to enjoy a pretty rainbow in the sky just before their reception entrance.

The guests all had a great time at the reception and partied on the dance floor most of the night.  Mom liked the couple’s cake topper, a Precious Moments couple with Mickey and Minnie wedding ears.  How great for a couple who are honeymooning here in Florida!

Congratulations Anna and John, and enjoy the Florida weather before you return home to Wyoming!

Sonya and Luis

On Saturday Sonya and Luis were married at Sacred Heart Church in Tampa with their reception at the Surf’s Edge Club at MacDill Air Force Base.  The couple had a night ceremony so dad started his day later than usual when he met with Sonya that afternoon as she got ready.  She had the cutest dog who was watching all the activity and wishing she could be pampered as well!

With Christmas coming up soon, the red accent color the couple used to accent their black and white wedding was perfect.  The bride even wore a gorgeous pair of red shoes.  Dad liked the damask pattern on details throughout the wedding as well.

Sonya and Luis had a great time at their reception!  The Christmas tree, wreaths, and stockings hanging made for a festive atmosphere.  It was a fun night, and certainly memorable!  Dad was still getting over his cough and was having a bit of trouble with all the fog the DJs were making.  As the night continued and there was more of the fog, the fire alarm ended up going off from it and the building had to be evacuated!  Luckily it was close to the end of the night and the couple left with a smile :) .

Congratulations Sonya and Luis!  Hope you enjoy your cruise!

Ultrasound Picture!

Yesterday mom and dad had the amazing experience of getting to see our baby with an ultrasound again, and this time we have pictures!  They said baby was waving hands in the air and moving arms and feet all over.  Mom of course cried seeing the cute baby.  God is so good and we are grateful for His blessings!

This was the best of the pictures, where you can see a hand and foot up in the air.

Even the baby is getting ready for Christmas!

Heather and Richard

In just a week and a half, Heather and Richard will exchange vows and become husband and wife!  They are an awesome couple and dad is excited for their wedding.

On Friday the rain cleared and dad met Heather and Richard for their engagement session.  He knew he was going to like them when he mentioned their wedding coming up and Richard said they were having the engagement session now because they always plan ahead and like to get things done and out of the way so they don’t procrastinate.  Believe it or not, 2 weeks before is not the closest to a wedding that dad has photographed an engagement session!

Heather, Richard, and dad walked around downtown Tampa and dad had a great time photographing the couple being goofy and sweet and very in love.

Mom was cracking up when she saw this one!  Heather, you are too funny!!

Your wedding will be here so soon and we can’t wait to share it with you!  See you in a week and a half!
