AMANDA AND JASON'S WEDDING

On Sunday Amanda and Jason were married at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa.  Amanda's morning was peaceful and relaxed as she had her hair done at the resort's salon before meeting up with her two bridesmaids to get dressed.  Dad said she was so calm and ready to say her vows and be Jason's wife.

The ceremony took place on the deck overlooking the vast green lawn with the water in the distance.  Flower petals marked the aisle to the trellis where the couple exchanged vows.

The newlyweds:

The reception room was decorated in red with pink accents and at each place setting there was a card letting guests know that a donation had been made in their honor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Police officers have very intense jobs, so when it comes time to party they know how to let loose!

The last dance:

Congratulations Amanda and Jason!  Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!

THE BATTLE OVER EVERETT'S HAIR

Since mom had some emails today from people agreeing with her about waiting to cut my brother's hair, dad asked me to share these pictures of Everett taken last week as further evidence for his side.

When Everett's hair is wet, you can see how long it really is!

Poor Everett always has his hair right in his eyes and covering his ears.  Dad says he is going to think the whole world is covered in stringy lines since that is all he ever sees!

So now that dad has presented his side, what do you think?  Cut or wait to cut?

MEGHAN AND ADAM'S WEDDING

Sacred Heart in Tampa has a gorgeous interior and that is where Meghan and Adam exchanged their vows on Saturday.

Both the bride and groom went to Notre Dame and were proud alumni.  Meghan had a tattoo and the fight song played during the wedding reception.

Other than Notre Dame, there were more Irish elements as part of the wedding as well.  Mom liked the Gaelic translation of "Live Laugh Love" as a theme of the reception.  It was printed on the place cards, menus, and the favors.

After leaving the ceremony, Meghan and Adam rode a horse and carriage to the University of Tampa for some pictures.  The carriage then brought them to the Tampa Club for their reception.

At the reception, dad got to see Eric and Erin whose wedding he photographed almost 2 years ago.  Dad says it was great seeing both of you again.  Be sure you keep in touch!

The Tampa Club not only had stunning views of downtown Tampa, but also had delicious food.  The DJ at the reception was Josh from Music on the Move and the couple's gorgeous pink and white patterned cake was done by Chef Michael at Let Them Eat Cake.  Dad said the cake looked awesome.  Meghan and Adam's friends and family had a great time dancing and celebrating.

This is one of the pictures mom loved.  She thought it looked like a couple on stage as a dance ends and the lights fade to black, perfect for a picture at the end of the night.

Congratulations Meghan and Adam!

EVERETT'S SIX MONTH PICTURES

My baby brother is 1/2 a year old.  It seems like not long ago at all that Emelyn was over for her 6 month pictures and we were thinking that Everett had a long wait until his.  It really snuck up on dad who was surprised when mom reminded him that it was time for Everett's pictures.  My brother is huge for 6 months!  He is in a size 12-18 months for most of his clothes, he is so good at sitting on his own, and he is starting to get onto his knees (well, one knee) to get ready for crawling.  I am excited for him!  The only thing I don't like is when he is playing with a toy I want.  I used to be able to just take it away and give him something else, but now he cries when I take things away from him and I get in trouble.

Dad did Everett's session a few days ago.  Everett looked bored as things got started.

Here is Everett standing on his own for a couple seconds with mom right behind him for when he starts to fall.  Good job Everett!!!

Mom doesn't want to cut Everett's hair even though people say his hair makes him look like a girl.  She says that in many cultures it is unlucky to cut a baby's hair until after they are one.  It could mean the baby will have thinning hair or baldness, or it could mean you interfere with the baby's development.  There is even a Russian saying that goes, "Cutting before one is cutting off a tongue."  In some Russian provinces, hair wasn't cut until a child was seven to avoid hindering development.  In Polish culture, they say cutting a baby's hair is cutting off their strength and you should bite the hair instead of cutting it to avoid this.  French Canadian culture believes that the longer you let a baby's hair grow, the more intelligent he or she will be.  Some cultures say it leads to misfortune and a life of crime.  Mom wanted me to be sure to explain all of the many beliefs from many cultures that say a haircut before the age of one is unlucky because dad really wants to take Everett for his first haircut this week.

With spring around the corner, we couldn't resist a picture of Everett and the frog.

Here is one with Everett in his frog outfit.

What an adorable smile!

The cat snuck in for this picture.

Everett showing off his two bottom teeth.  The first came in during our vacation in Colorado and the second came a couple weeks later.

Cute faces:

Everett giving mom a big wet kiss!

Dad wanted a kiss too.

Everett wanted to give me a kiss but I wouldn't turn my head so he tried to pull me over to him!

Now that Everett is six months old, we gave him solids for the first time.  Let's just say he wasn't a fan.

We've been so busy around here that I haven't had a chance to share some other family pictures that I've been wanting to put on the blog, so check back soon for those and for some images from Amanda and Jason's wedding this past Sunday.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!

One of mom's favorite pictures that dad took at a newborn session is of Andrea and her daughter:

Incredibly, that little baby is now a toddler and had her first birthday session with dad on Friday!  Dad said she was so much fun!!  He couldn't believe how quickly she could get around.  Now who doesn't love a little girl in a party dress, but her little brown curls and blue eyes made her look even more precious.

With all the energy she had early in the session...

...they still decided to add some sugar!  She started out being a bit hesitant, but soon that cake was history!

It has been such a pleasure to have shared such special milestones with your family during the past year.  Thank you for that!!  Have a wonderful birthday!

RACHELLE AND TYRONE

Dad pulled up to the Resort at Little Harbor for Rachelle and Tyrone's wedding on Saturday and had to check his speedometer carefully to be sure he wasn't speeding.  Mom didn't believe this was serious but dad said this really was the speed limit sign at the resort!

The couple's ceremony was on the beach under a fabric covered chuppah that Rachelle herself helped assemble.  It was a gorgeous day; all that is missing from the picture below is the Corona bottle.

Beth with Flawless Occasions was the wedding coordinator for the couple and dad enjoyed meeting her.  Julissa of Beauty Brought Out was there that morning for Rachelle's hair and makeup.  As Rachelle was getting ready, dad was taking some pictures of the rings and noticed the inscription inside Tyrone's ring...Olive Juice.  How funny!  The wedding date was also engraved in the ring with the word February spelled out.  That was the most dad had seen fit on a ring before.

The couple had a Jewish ceremony and both the ketubah and chuppah had the Bible quote, "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine" (Song of Solomon, 6:3).  After the ceremony dad brought Rachelle and Tyrone to the pier for some pictures and later back to the beach for a few more.

The reception was held at the Sunset Grill at the resort.  Rachelle, Tyrone, and their family had so much fun and kept the dance floor busy.

Thanks so much for having dad share your wedding with you.  You have a wonderful family!

KRISTEN AND JEFF'S ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Sunday dad met Kristen and Jeff in Sarasota for their engagement session.  They live in North Carolina and came down to Sanibel to find a location for their wedding.  They met up with dad literally on their way to the airport to head back home.  It was another day with nice weather and dad said there were a few kite boarders out in the water that were fun to watch.  Because it was President's Day weekend the beach was a bit crowded.  Kristen and Jeff didn't mind at all and were up for walking all around for pictures away from the water as well.

We hope you had a fun trip to Florida!  And good luck on your venue search!

RACHEL AND ERIC

On Friday dad was at the Lange Farm to celebrate more love!  Pale pink and gold were the colors the couple chose for their theme of a romantic post-Valentine's Day wedding.  Rachel had a gorgeous dress and feathery wisps in her bouquet matched the gown.

The ceremony was on the South Lawn of the farm and the bride arrived in an antique Model-A car that her aunt and uncle provided.  Dad said his favorite part of the entire day was just after the ceremony when Rachel and Eric were alone in the car.  They waited for family to gather for pictures unaware of anything happening around them.  Dad heard Eric whisper lovingly to Rachel, telling her how happy he was to have her as his wife and how much he loved her.  It was a very tender moment.

The sunlight that evening was so warm and beautiful as it surrounded the couple and lit the trees of the farm.

Rachel and Eric have a strong connection that it is like they are one.  They look like they just melt right into each other.

David from Trinity Video was the couple's videographer and Doug Decker from Grant Hemond did a great job as the DJ.  The night ended with Rachel and Eric leaving for their wedding night as guests threw hearts at them.

It was a day to celebrate the start of a lifetime of love.  Congratulations Rachel and Eric!!

Dad spent Saturday with Rachelle, Tyrone, and their family so check back for pictures!

WORKSHOP WITH DAVID BECKSTEAD

On Monday and Tuesday dad was at a workshop to learn from David Beckstead, who was named one of the top ten wedding photographers in the world.  Dad joined a group of photographers to shoot alongside David Beckstead and get a new perspective on how to look at lighting and locations.  Not only was it a great experience and lots of fun, but dad got some great images!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

We hope all of you have a great time celebrating love and romance.  We know many of you won't celebrate until this weekend so for those of you who bought surprises from us for your significant others or your family members, we want to hear the reactions!

Mom wanted to have a much more fun blog entry for Valentine's Day with love quotes and pictures and other cool things, but she is too exhausted.  Dad let me take a late nap so I wasn't tired at all at night and stayed up way too late.  When I finally did go to sleep, mom had a few things to get done before she could go to bed and as she was working Everett woke up.  He wouldn't go back to sleep so this is the best we can do for a 5am with no sleep and a baby on the lap blog entry.

LYNN'S FAMILY SESSION

Sunday was a gorgeous day!  It felt like spring instead of Florida's eternal summer.  Dad met Lynn and her family for their session that afternoon.  They were in town from Tallahassee and the session was a gift from Lynn to her mom.

Lynn and her sister are both planning weddings.  That must be so much fun for them!  They are definitely both going to be beautiful brides.

LYNN AND MATTHEW'S ENGAGEMENT SESSION

After the family session dad photographed Lynn and Matthew's engagement session.  They were a blast!  They made the session relaxed and fun, and dad loves it when a couple is up for anything.  When mom was going through the pictures, she thought it was so sweet and romantic that you could see how in love Lynn and Matthew were just from how they looked into each other's eyes, so she and I picked all pictures of them looking lovingly at each other for the blog.

Lynn, mom says she thinks this one will be one of your favorites, though it would be even better if it was a JCrew window .

Dad says thanks for a terrific day.  He can already tell that your wedding is going to be fabulous.  We're so excited for it!!

LAUREN'S MATERNITY SESSION

Friday morning dad was the first person at the park.  He said it was so peaceful and calming to be alone in nature listening to the birds chirp.  It had rained the night before there was a bit of a mist and dew on the grass.  What a perfect morning to celebrate a new life!  Lauren and Kevin met dad at the park for a maternity session.  Their little girl is due next month and they are very anxious to meet her!

Dad said this picture symbolized the baby "cooking," as in bun in the oven.  Mom thought dad was silly and said this was just a nice picture of Lauren and Kevin laughing and enjoying themselves.

After the park, dad went to Lauren and Kevin's home for a few more pictures.  The picture of her in the crib is so cute, and mom can't believe she decorated the nursery walls herself!

Dad can't wait to photograph their little girl when she arrives sometime next month.  We wish you a fast and healthy labor and delivery!

BOWLING FOR MOM'S BIRTHDAY

We were away on our trip to Colorado for mom's actual birthday, so we had another little celebration for her on Thursday.  We went bowling and then had a cake for her at our house.  It was my first time bowling and I loved it!  All of us had a really great time.

Here is dad getting into "the zone."  Unfortunately it must not have worked because around half of all his throws went into the gutter.

I started out pushing the ball but everyone else was standing up and throwing it so I decided to do that too.  The score board shows the speed of the ball and mine were going a whopping 1.5 MPH!

Mom thought she was doing okay, but grandma had back surgery and slipped disks and other back problems and still beat mom!

You can only barely see it, but my brother got his first tooth in while we were in Colorado.

Aunt Kellie looking much more innocent than she really is (just teasing!)

Mom got Roots as one of her birthday presents and we watched it last night.  Mom and dad have both seen it before but it still made mom cry.

ANDREA AND ROBERT AT THE LANGE FARM

I'm a day later than I said I would be in getting these on my blog, but with Valentine's Day coming up we've been busy!  We work with some very romantic couples who have great surprise gifts planned for their fiances.

Dad loves the Lange Farm and was happy to be there for Andrea and Robert's wedding on Saturday.  One of the great things about the Lange Farm is that it is big with so many pretty spots that dad says he always finds some different background for pictures.

Andrea got ready at the Saddlebrook Resort, though this time dad didn't see any alligators.  After her and her girls had their hair and makeup done they headed to the Lange Farm to get dressed.  To fit with her location, Andrea wore a pair of white cowboy boots under her wedding gown!

The ceremony was held behind the Garden House surrounded by tall pine trees.  The couple had twisted branches and vines in wooden pots to create the canopy under which they said their vows.

One of Andrea and Robert's decorations was a clothes line holding pictures of the two of them together.  Dad thinks that would be a fun way to show off lots of pictures from an engagement session.

A silhouette of the guys.  They got some pretty good air!

The new Mr. and Mrs.

The first dance at the reception in the Garden House.  Jude from Grant Hemond was the DJ.

Andrea's dad gave our second longest speech to date...don't worry Rachel, your dad's 38 minute speech is still the leader.

After the toasts, Robert played a song for Andrea.  It was a very sweet moment that brought Andrea to tears.

The newlyweds are headed to Rome for their honeymoon.  That is sure to be a wonderful trip!  Congratulations you two!

THE GIANTS WIN THE SUPERBOWL

My mom, not my dad, is the football fan in our house.  Mom was so excited for the Super Bowl and says having two boys makes her excited for football seasons in years to come!  My favorite team is the Packers because I love anything with the color green, but mom's main team is the Redskins since she grew up outside of D.C.  But of course neither of those teams were in this year's Super Bowl.  The New England Patriots were the heavy favorite over the New York Giants.

Dad watched the game with us and decided to cheer on the Patriots.  Dad said it was because he loves the New England area (again showing that our family likes pretty much anything that has to do with snow).  Mom thinks it was just to annoy her since she was for the Giants.  Though she likes the Patriots, she loves a good under dog story.  And she didn't want to see NFL history show an undefeated team the same year as a cheating scandal.

It was Everett's first Super Bowl and he cheered for both the Patriots and the Giants, depending on who was holding him at the time.  I was with mom in cheering for the Giants so I could sit next to her on the couch since she had the yummy Doritos and dad only had salt and vinegar potato chips.

The Giant's defense seriously dominated!  It was amazing to watch.  Though the win was doubtful at times, the miracle play (which by the way was what mom called it when she saw it and only later found out it was being called that in the media as well!) in the 4th quarter was something for highlight reels for years to come.  With time running out the Giants needed a touch down to get in the lead.  It was third down and if they didn't convert, it would most likely cost them the game.  Eli Manning went to throw and Patriots were suddenly all around him.  They had a hold of his jersey and it looked inevitable that he would be sacked.  He spun around and we couldn't believe it when he was soon out of the crowd and able to throw the ball!  But even more unbelievable was the catch made by David Tyree.  It looked impossible and with Rodney Harrison right there we were bracing ourselves for a Patriots win.  Somehow, and really I don't know how, Tyree made the catch!  Here are two views of the amazing 32 yard catch from NFL.com:

Tyree even had to use his helmet to make the catch, but he did it, and with the Plaxico Burress touchdown that followed a few plays later the Giants won the Super Bowl 17-14.  Here are a couple of our own pictures of Everett's first Super Bowl.

Everett and Eli are both little brothers!  Maybe that makes me like Payton .  Two brothers winning Super Bowl MVP in consecutive years could happen again!

VALENTINE'S DAY SPECIAL UPDATE

Dad has finished photographing all the  For His Eyes Only  sessions for the Valentine's Day special and said it was lots of fun.  We've decided not to share any of the pictures on my blog for now since most of the sessions were surprises for significant others and we don't want anyone to be recognized, but thanks to all the girls who came by and we know your boyfriends/fiances/husbands are going to love the pictures!

I'll be back tomorrow with a few pictures from this weekend's wedding!

COLORADO VACATION

I know, I know.  I'm a couple days late in sharing pictures from our trip.  But when you see how many I have to share, you'll know why it took me a while!

We had THE BEST time on vacation in Breckenridge!  Dad wanted to find a place where there would be lots of snow and lots of fun stuff to do.  He looked in the New England area but most of those towns only had snow made for the ski resorts.  After my Highlights magazine had an article about the International Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge, CO the same weekend we wanted to take our vacation, he decided that we'd go out west.

Our First Day

To get to Breckenridge, you have to fly into Denver.  As soon as you land, you know what many people go to CO for...

...but to get to the mountains you have to brave Denver traffic.  It was as bad as when mom and dad used to live just outside of D.C!

It took us twice as long to finally get there and get into our hotel, where we dropped off our stuff and headed right back outside to enjoy the snow.  We all just love the snow!  And what does a guy who loves the snow but lives in Florida do when he sees lots of snow?

He jumps in of course!  It was snowing and in the single digits that night, so we were all bundled up.  Everett's snow suit made him extra heavy.  He looked like a giant stuffed teddy bear.  Everyone who walked past said something about how cute he was, and it kept him nice and warm.

The snow banks were taller than me, and I headed right for them to make footprints and throw snowballs.  Once we played for a bit we headed back to our hotel room, tired from both the time change and travelling.

Our View

Looking out of our hotel window, we got a pretty view of a mountain.  Here is the mountain at sun rise:

The view of the mountain late in the afternoon:

Dad Goes Snowboarding

In October dad photographed Leigh and Mike's gorgeous wedding here in Florida.  They live in Colorado so when dad booked the trip there, we told them we'd be headed their way.  Leigh wasn't able to make it but Mike made plans to meet up with dad and go snowboarding.  Dad loves boarding and misses it tons, so he was really looking forward to getting some time on the mountain.  He woke up early to get on the slopes as soon as the lifts opened.

Mike had a season's pass which let dad get a discount on his lift ticket (thanks Mike!)  They took the lifts for a few warm up runs before heading up to the top of the highest peak.  It is the highest above tree line skiing with lift access in North America, going up to 12,840 feet.  After boarding down from that, they were both a little tired.  Dad was only boarding for a half day since mom, Everett, and I were waiting for him, so when they finished up Mike stopped by to say hi to us.  I think Mike is pretty cool.  I met him before when he came to our house for a meeting and he always makes me laugh.  I was sad Leigh wasn't around to make a fort with, so I hope I can see her again too.  Dad had so much fun spending the morning snowboarding with Mike.  Thanks so much for coming to hang out!

Our point and shoot camera is being fixed and dad didn't want to bring one of his "real" cameras with him up the mountain, so he brought *GASP* a DISPOSABLE!  To differentiate the pictures from the disposable, I'm using my point and shoot border with a "D"  for disposable added on it.

Dad and Mike on the lift:

While on the lift, this is the view of the other peaks:

Ice Skating

Dad had never been ice skating, and I hadn't either, so that evening we headed to the ice skating rink.  They had both indoor and outdoor rinks but only the outdoor was open when we got there.  While dad held Everett off the ice, mom took me around a few times to try to show me how to skate.  I LOVED it!

The only other people there was a couple and another family whose kids were also ice skating for the first time.  Those kids were all using ice walkers, so I wanted one too.  It made things much easier for me.

Dad took me around a time or two (as he held on to the edge the whole way) before the rink was closing and we had to leave.  I made mom and dad promise that we could come back again!

That night we found our first (and probably only) bad thing about Breckenridge.  The downtown streets are so pretty, with lots of lights and shops and restaurants.  But on a Saturday night, it was so incredibly crowded!  Every restaurant we went to had at least an hour wait.  After walking around for quite a while, I told mom and dad that I was very cold and wanted to go back to the hotel.  We ended up with room service for dinner that night.

Sledding

The next morning we went to the park near the school to go sledding.  Mom and dad said it was a work out to walk up that steep hill so many times, but it was sure fun!  When dad took me, we ended up in the trees every time.  Mom was better at steering and I was laughing the whole time we zoomed down the hill.  We did lots of video so we only took a couple pictures with the disposable.  Here is one of me and mom:

Out to Lunch

We learned our lesson with dinner the night before so this day we decided on a late lunch at a restaurant instead.  We called and when they answered the phone the host asked how he could make us smile.  Dad said he could tell us there wasn't a wait so the guy said he'd get us right in.  We found a parking space and headed right over and felt special as we got seated and heard them telling other people that there was a 30 minute wait.  They must have really wanted us to smile!

For the first time ever, mom and dad decided to try to let Everett sit in a high chair himself.  He did a great job and loved banging on the table and knocking the crayons and paper to the floor.  I was a great big brother and picked it up for him a few times.  Everett is getting so big!  He turned 5 months old while we were in CO.

We decided to celebrate mom's birthday at this lunch so she ordered a frozen lemonade in a special flashing cup.  Nonna had one for her birthday a few days before, so I thought it was good for mom to have one too.  Mom let me drink some of her lemonade and then I didn't want to give it back, so she ended up ordering another one for her and she let me keep the first.

Besides the blue frozen lemonade, I also loved the blue jello!  I loved it so much, I was licking the cup to try to get every bit out!

Dad said his food was really good and he had to take a picture.

When we left and were walking the downtown streets to get back to where we parked, dad saw this sign about being careful not to ruin the grass.  For some reason he loved it and took pictures of it so I figured I might as well share the picture here.

Snow Sculptures

That night we headed back downtown to see the snow sculpture competition.  Being out at night is always much colder so we bundled up.

But not everyone feels the need to dress in warm clothes.  Mom and dad were amazed to see this guy standing around in shorts!

The snow sculptures all start out as a 20 ton block of snow measuring 10x10x12 feet.  No power tools are allowed and it takes the team of sculptors three days to finish.  But the end results are amazing!

There was basically a vigil set up for the German sculpture, which fell just hours after being built.  But no worries; they were awarded the ribbon for Artists' Choice.

I was super cold and fell asleep walking over to the place, but I woke up long enough to see a few sculptures.  My favorite was the cat with the eyes made of ice, complete with slits to make it look more real!

Mom's favorite was Teeter-Toddler from the Vermont team.

The description was great:

One of the joys of winter is seeing the young ones enjoy their first winter outings.  Some of them are so bundled up they can barely take a step!

That sounded a lot like Everett in his snow suit.

Having some fun:

Mom wants me to point out that she is actually several feet away and not really touching the sculpture in the picture above.

My Cute Pajamas

These are two shamelessly cute pictures of me and my brother:

Scenic Views

Dad wished he had more time to walk around the town just to take pictures.  When we were walking around downtown one of the days, dad saw a photographer doing an engagement session and he got so so so jealous!  The town of Breckenridge is gorgeous and the views from the town are even better.

Back to the Rink

Mom and dad said that we could go ice skating again, so we went the day before we had to leave.  This time it was the indoor rink that was open.  I was so excited!  I couldn't wait to get onto the ice again.

Super excited face!

I didn't want mom to help me this time so I got an ice walker and told her to stay near me, but not to help me.  I was going really very slow though, so sometimes she'd help me with a little push.

Dad found an adult ice walker!  It helped him get better too.

Playing in the Snow

After ice skating, we went to our hotel to change and get ready to play in the snow.

Mom was trying to help me make a snowman, but I wanted to have a snowball fight!  We ended up doing both.

All of us laying in the snow:

Before going back to our room, dad decided to jump into a snow bank.  Poor dad; the snow ended up being packed tightly and he hurt his head a little.

An Outdoor Hot Tub

We spent our last night in the hot tubs on the hotel deck.  Though the town was packed all weekend, by Sunday night things seemed to empty out so this night we were able to get the hot tub to ourselves.  Mom and dad took turns staying inside with Everett because it was much too cold for him to be outside.  While we were enjoying the hot tub, the flurries we had been getting turned to snow and it was the coolest thing to sit in the hot tub while it snowed on us.

Goodbye Breckenridge

We were so sad to leave Colorado.  The snow, the mountains, the exercise we were all getting from the outdoor activities, the cold weather...it was an amazing place and had given us a terrific vacation.  We hope we can go back again soon and often.  Who knows someone who is getting married in Colorado??!!  Be sure to tell them that we travel!
